DAZN Appoints Alex Gersh CFO as Betting Veteran Joins
DAZN has named Alex Gersh, a veteran of the sports betting world, as its next chief financial officer. The hire is one piece of a broader reshuffle in the top ranks at the sports entertainment platform.
Darren Waterman, the outgoing CFO, shifts into a newly created post: chief business officer. DAZN said the move recognises what Waterman did to get the company to profitability.
Gersh knows this territory. He spent years in senior posts at Sportradar and Betfair, and he was there for Sportradar's Nasdaq listing. Financial leadership plus sector knowledge is a rare combination. DAZN plainly wanted someone fluent in both the spreadsheet and the betting ecosystem.
In the CFO seat, Gersh reports straight to DAZN Group chief executive Shay Segev. Waterman reports to Segev as well in his new CBO role, and so does Patrick Delany, the former Foxtel Group CEO, who comes aboard as chief operating officer.
Other changes land alongside these. Alice Mascia, who ran the DACH segment for four years, is leaving. Felix Krause is back as DACH CEO, retaking control of that market. DAZN framed the whole set of moves as a signal of its growth ambitions.
Why should affiliates and operators care about a CFO hire? Because Gersh's time at Sportradar and Betfair suggests he understands the betting supply chain, and how to price risk. That matters if you're building products that live near wagering.
DAZN has spent 2026 testing prediction markets. January brought a partnership with Polymarket, with event contracts integrated right into the platform. Months later came an exclusive global strategic partnership with ADI Predictstreet, FIFA's first official prediction market partner. The plan is to lean on ADI Chain to build and distribute regulated prediction market experiences for sports fans around the world.
Segev hasn't been shy about the size of the opportunity. "Prediction markets are becoming one of the most exciting and rapidly growing forms of digital fan engagement," he said at the time. The United States, he added, will be a major focus of the ADI Predictstreet tie-up.
So the senior ranks are now set: Gersh on the finances, a restructured leadership team answering to Segev. What's left is execution. Gersh formally takes over CFO duties, Waterman settles into a wider remit, and Delany starts work as COO.
